Ciboriums
( number of products: 3 )We have been supplying quality ciboriums to parishes for many years. These sacred vessels are suitable for holding and distributing consecrated hosts during Holy Mass and reserving the Blessed Sacrament in the tabernacle.
Ciboriums feature a covered cup on a stem with a base. They are made from 24-carat gold-plated brass, sometimes decorated with precious stones, and are similar to a chalice. However, they feature a lid to protect the consecrated hosts. Our ciboriums have a capacity of 600 Hosts.
Liturgical Ciboriums
The term “ciborium” comes from the Greek word kibōrion which means “cup” or “seed vessel”. Early Christians used simple containers-baskets or wooden boxes-to hold bread for Communion. By the 4th century AD, ciboria began resembling chalices with lids, and in medieval times, they became more elaborate and adorned with engravings or jewels.
Today, the liturgical ciboriums represent reverence for Christ's presence in the Eucharist and emphasise the sacredness of the bread. That is why the appearance of liturgical vessels matters. Our ciboriums are elegant and feature minimal ornamentation.
Gold-Plated Ciboriums
Priests appreciate the thoughtful features we have incorporated based on feedback over the years: secure-fitting lids will not accidentally come off during procession; smooth interior surface makes purification easier; and properly-weighted base prevents tipping. To take care of the gold-plated ciborium, make sure to clean it after each use following purification according to liturgical norms.
