Pugin style chasubles

( number of products: 9 )

Pugin-style chasubles represent a distinctive liturgical vestment rooted in the Gothic Revival movement of the 19th century. They are the work of Augustus Welby Northmore Pugin (1812-1852) who aimed to restore the fuller, more ample shape of pre-Reformation chasubles.

Pugin Chasuble

Pugin believed that Gothic design best embodied Christian principles of beauty and truth. His vestments incorporated premium fabrics like damask or velvet. Their design reflected medieval aesthetics.

Unlike the more rigid “fiddleback” Roman style, Pugin chasubles drape elegantly over the shoulders. These vestments typically incorporate luxurious fabrics and are adorned with intricate embroidery and decorative orphrey braids. The ornamentation commonly includes crosses, the IHS monogram, or floral motifs.

Liturgical Chasubles: Pugin-Style

As you can see in our range, the Pugin chasubles are available in the liturgical colours: white, gold, green, and red. The vestments showcase the distinctive Y-shaped orphrey that recalls medieval Gothic tradition. They are often used during major feast days.

Our Pugin chasubles are made from durable fabrics with detailed orphrey bands. They feature a generous cut that drapes the priest naturally during Mass. Gold trim highlights the edges and decorative panels, and a full lining improves comfort. The chasubles can be dry-washed and ironed at a low temperature.
